TAN Jiahao (China)

'Xiongzaixia' TAN Jiahao was born in 1989 in Shunde, Guangdong. He graduated with a major in Russian language from the School of Foreign Studies, South China Normal University. He became a cinephile in 2008, mainly active on Douban.com. His interests are rare film resources sharing and collecting, subtitle translation, cinema of the Soviet Union, Japanese indie documentaries, and he is always searching and digging for hidden cinematic gems. He translated subtitles for 167 films from 2009 to 2014. Since 2014, TAN has been making indie documentaries on the concept of 'geo', the connections between people and places, as an amateur filmmaker with limited resources. His works have been selected by several film festivals in Beijing, Chongqing, Tainan, and the Ishigaki Island. He was a programmer for the Shanghai International Film Festival in 2018 and 2019.
