Biographie

Maroš Berák gratuated from Philosophical Faculty of Comenius Univerzity in Bratislava in 1998 (his specialization is logics, semantics and philosophy of science). In the years 1998-2001 he worked in local TV which was his first contact with filmmaking. At the same time he made his first experimental short films. His interest in film lead him to start studing of documentary film at Academny of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 2001 under pedagogical leadership of legendary Slovak director Dušan Hanák. At present he works again in TV as a director of reality shows.

Chinese or Mongolian?

The French documentary film The Arrivals was screened at the Jihlava IDFF 2010. At the end of the festival, it was selected as the best film of the travelling Doc Alliance Selection, winning the prestigious Doc Alliance Award. After its successful festival tour, the film opens the doors to a place where the clash of civilizations is a daily routine to online spectators as well.
