Biography

Anja Salomonowitz studied film directing and editing at the Academy for Film in Vienna and the Konrad Wolf College of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Her first works YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND THIS and IT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE, documentary films at the genre’s intersection with fiction, were internationally acclaimed, awarded numerous film prizes and have been inscribed in the literature relating to documentary film. SPAIN was Anja Salomonowitz’s first full-length feature film. Her new documentary film, THE 727 DAYS WITHOUT KARAMO, was premiered during the International Film Forum at the Berlinale 2013. Anja Salomonowitz lives with her family in Vienna.
