Biography

Jan Foukal was born in 1979 in Malá Haná in the villa Sibiř (Siberia), then Czechoslovakia. After graduating from the elementary art school (piano) he founded the music band Diktát where he plays the guitar. He studied at the Archbishop’s Grammar School in Prague and later he studied journalism. He spent some time in Berlin where he made his first film Searching for the Future Times. On the basis of this work, he was accepted to FAMU where he has been studiing at the Departement of Documentary Film since 2003.
