Mauro Andrizzi



Mauro Andrizzi was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina in 1980. He studied scriptwriting and graduated from the ENERC (National Film School), Buenos Aires, in 2001. While a student, he wrote and directed some short films. After obtaining his degree, he also co-wrote a couple of TV shows in Buenos Aires. He also worked for 7 years as a film programmer/curator for Mar del Plata Intl. Film Festival, from 2000 to 2007. In 2006 he started his own production company in Buenos Aires, “Mono Films”, production house of his own works.

“Mono” is an experimental documentary about a renovation in the Argentinian musical scene. Twelve new bands - Los Álamos, El mató a un policía motorizado, Bauer, Los Kahunas, Los Cuzcos, Brian Storming, Norma, Pablo Reche, Turpentine, Hacia Dos Veranos, Los Peyotes and McFly - and their audience, were filmed during six months, in long takes, during their concerts in different Argentinian cities...





“My work has two strands: the first one deals with direct political images of violence, aggression and protest, mostly in Israeli-Palestinian context. It’s critique of news media, researching the complex, both realistic and surrealistic aspects of these images. The second strand of videos is more abstract and universal, dealing with cognitive, environmental and existential issues,” says the director about his works.
