Biography

Karim Aïnouz’s first feature film, Madame Satã, premiered in 2002 at Cannes Film Festival, un certain Regard. Suely in the Sky, his second feature, premiered at Venice Film Festival, Orizzonti, in 2006. His installations have been shown in the Whitney Museum of american art Biennial (1997) and the são Paulo Biennial (2004). Karim worked as a scriptwriter for Marcelo Gomes´ feature debut Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures. He has recently finished, Alice, a TV series for HBO Latin America.

For more than 10 years, Dutch director Leonard Retel Helmrich has been returning to the homeland of his parents to observe and record the transformation of Indonesia in the turbulent years of economic and cultural globalization. The Dafilms portal presents all of the three parts of his famous documentary trilogy, including the latest film Position among the Stars.
