Adam Oľha

Adam Oľha was born in July 1984 in the Czech Republic. He studied Documentary Film Making at FAMU and his graduate film The Sanctity Growers (2005) was screened at Czech and international festivals.

Adam was also involved in documentaries by directors Lucie Králová, Jan Sacher and Pavel Abrahám, and he has worked for Czech Television. Apart from film direction, he is also a cameraman, film editor and artistic photographer.

They loved film and decided to make it their way. Without film schools, without money and with amateur technology, they were able to work wonders. Feature films by Vladimír Beer from the 1930s carefully preserved by his son as well as films by later stars of the amateur sky Vladimír Kunc, Rudolf Mihle and Petr Lášek.

Due to the disputes over its professional execution, digitization is unfortunately the most visible case in contemporary Czech cinema. Step by step, we will show you how director Jiří Menzel and cinematographer Jaromír Šofr restored Oscar-winning Closely Watched Trains.





“My work has two strands: the first one deals with direct political images of violence, aggression and protest, mostly in Israeli-Palestinian context. It’s critique of news media, researching the complex, both realistic and surrealistic aspects of these images. The second strand of videos is more abstract and universal, dealing with cognitive, environmental and existential issues,” says the director about his works.
