Marouan Omara (Egypt)

Omara’s films wander around unmarked territory between fiction and documentary. Using cinema and it's tools as a genuine mode of research, his films have a dreamlike notion to the surrounding and closeness to the everyday experiences of his society. His projects focus on the characters’ dynamics that form the core of his film language. He finds mid-length creative documentary as the most suitable medium to his storytelling approach in which it proved its success in his previous work. Marouan’s projects got granted from prestigious institutions among them The Danish Arts Council, The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, Film-und Medienstiftung and premiered at Berlinale"2017", Jihlava IDFF"2015" and IFF Rotterdam"2013" followed with tours at festivals, museums, and events such as Museum für Photographie Braunschweig, No.W.Here London, British Film-Institute. Marouan’s films are based on collaborations in which he believes on its necessity as a tool of contemporary cinema.
