Marouan Omara is a Director working with film, video and photography, born in 1987 in Cairo, Egypt. He got his Diploma in Film-making at Art & Technology of Cinema Academy and his BA from Applied Arts, Helwan University in 2011. He as well works as a film & video instructor at the German University in Cairo. His films have been shown in major international film festivals.

Crop is an absorbing account of the Egyptian revolution of 2011 – one that includes no images of the popular uprising itself. Filmed entirely within the offices of Al-Ahram, the country’s largest state-run newspaper, the film is a series of carefully composed tableaux that expose the institution’s functioning and the former regime’s strict control over information.
