Biography

Architect and filmmaker, born in Chile in 1975. Author of the documentary ARCANA, about the last working year of the old prison of Valparaíso, Chile. On 2011 was edited the final edition of ARCANA, that consist on a book that complement the film (www.proyectoarcana.cl).
From 1999 to 2000 works on audiovisual workshops inside the new prison of Valparaiso. From 2007 to the present, works on different architect and design universities (PUCV & UTFSM) developing experimental film workshops, studying through cinema the space-time territory.
At this days he is working on his second film "PARASANG" about the relation between cinema and the space-time that surround us.

Gulîstan, Land of Roses Wins Prestigious Doc Alliance Selection Award at Locarno IFF

On Sunday, August 7, young director Zaynê Akyol became the 9th winner of the unique Doc Alliance Selection Award that is awarded since 2008 by the international Doc Alliance platform. The Kurdish director based in Canada received the award during an award ceremony at Locarno IFF. Along with the award, the filmmaker also received financial support of 5.000 euro for her future film.
