Biography

Anders Jedenfors graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in June 2008. During his studies he made films for the BBC and British Channel 4. His previous work has been screened at film festivals all over the world. His film "Space Travel According To John" won the McLaren Award for best British animation at the Edinburgh Film festival 2008 and a Scottish BAFTA in November 2008. His graduation film “The Carlssons” won a BAFTA New Talent Award in March 2009. During 2010 Anders was selected for the Film Stockholm Talent Program. His latest film "This Is Now" participated at Startsladden at GIFF 2013. It won the Peoples Award at Uppsala Int'l Film Festival. In 2014 he premiered his feature length debut with documentary ”In The Country”.

On the plains of Dalsland, Sweden, long-time married couple Lena and Gunvall are living in retirement. At first sight, they are just an ordinary couple doing their daily chores and bickering about little things. He pops off to the neighbour for a drink, she stays at home, fixing the food. Gradually, however, we realise that something is gnawing at them...

Gulîstan, Land of Roses Wins Prestigious Doc Alliance Selection Award at Locarno IFF

On Sunday, August 7, young director Zaynê Akyol became the 9th winner of the unique Doc Alliance Selection Award that is awarded since 2008 by the international Doc Alliance platform. The Kurdish director based in Canada received the award during an award ceremony at Locarno IFF. Along with the award, the filmmaker also received financial support of 5.000 euro for her future film.
