Herbert Sveinbjörnsson



Herbert Sveinbjörnsson worked in TV advertisement and TV programming as a technician in Esbjerg Denmark 1997-1999. He started working as a cameraman at RUV (Icelandic national broadcasting service) 1999, then he worked as an editor at RUV 2003-2011. He is also a shareholder in Edisons Lifandi Ljómyndir ehf and is the current chairman of the board.

On April 14th 2010 the earth opened up for the second time in less than a month at Eyjafjallajökull in Southern Iceland. The volcanic eruption melted the ice cap, flooded the nearby farms and spewed 70 tons of ash into the stratosphere per second and disrupted air traffic throughout Northern Europe...





“My work has two strands: the first one deals with direct political images of violence, aggression and protest, mostly in Israeli-Palestinian context. It’s critique of news media, researching the complex, both realistic and surrealistic aspects of these images. The second strand of videos is more abstract and universal, dealing with cognitive, environmental and existential issues,” says the director about his works.
