Barbora is a video artist and filmmaker based in Bratislava, Slovakia and NYC, USA. She graduated at Film Faculty at University of Performing Art in Bratislava, also studied animation and video postproduction in BBAA UPV, Valencia, Spain and Digital filmmaking at NYFA in NYC.
Barbora has been working on documentaries and videos for TV and various NGO productions, music videos and video art installations. Barbora is interested in experimenting with storytelling and cross-genres in film and video installation.

Remembering 90 (Orig.) / 2015 / Slovakia / 24 min

The video is a documentary/experimental/installation project compiled from amateur VHS archives from the 90's. These were collected systematically by the author to offer a view into the personal situation of post-revolutionary times in former Czechoslovakia. Non-native home videos are transmitting emotion mainly to the related audience trough the individual memory of the real-life situation...

Gulîstan, Land of Roses Wins Prestigious Doc Alliance Selection Award at Locarno IFF

On Sunday, August 7, young director Zaynê Akyol became the 9th winner of the unique Doc Alliance Selection Award that is awarded since 2008 by the international Doc Alliance platform. The Kurdish director based in Canada received the award during an award ceremony at Locarno IFF. Along with the award, the filmmaker also received financial support of 5.000 euro for her future film.
