Viola Ježková is a Czech documentary film director, student of Documentary Film Departement at FAMU, Prague. Her short student film My Body's Body was awarded of Best documentary film at FAMUFEST NOIR 2012.
The selection of works by Viola Ježková is pervaded with the themes of faith and religion, ranging from The Cowshed where cows represent both the old and new, the worldly and the beyond; through Not Just Standing But Rising Up, an impressive portrait of Old Testament scholar Milan Balabán, showing that God is not a “what” but a “where” (a Way); to the ontological search for a background in My Body's Body, providing a disturbing and dislocated perspective of motherhood connected with contemplation.
