“My work has two strands: the first one deals with direct political images of violence, aggression and protest, mostly in Israeli-Palestinian context. It’s critique of news media, researching the complex, both realistic and surrealistic aspects of these images. The second strand of videos is more abstract and universal, dealing with cognitive, environmental and existential issues,” says the director about his works.

System of transitions is part 2 of the MAZY-project. The three pieces can be presented either collectively as MAZY project, or as seperate films.
What is the human body able to sustain when subjected to devices that record sounds and images? And what can be done with the human body when it tends to evade the representational codes of these devices? MAZY (meaning labyrinthine), based on the choreography by Willi Dorner, offers three answers formulated with the dispositives of video, film and computer: videographic marionette, expressive filmic being and computerized trace of movement.
Johannes Hammels system of transitions subjects the human body to an extreme test: In constant danger of being swallowed up by a space ending in a black void or becoming stuck to a various surfaces and smacking sounds, an insect-like being undergoes a transformation which is beyond physical reason. In jittery montages the body (again Guszner) extricates itself in convulsive movements, though painlessly, to a point at which the ability of this (or ones own) body is barely believable.
