Documentary-maker and feature-film director Sergei Loznitsa put together hours of found footage on the 18 August 1991 putsch in Russia, when hardline Communists tried to bring down Mikhail Gorbachev and in response the people of Moscow and Leningrad took to the streets. Using silent archival footage, Loznitsa created a lyrical narrative of the fall of the Soviet Union.
