Harun Farocki tracks the individual steps in the manufacture and use of bricks in Africa, India and Europe, comparing and contrasting different traditions and methods. Instead of using a commentary, Farocki allows the images to speak for themeselves, working with the colour, movement and sound of bricks, which symbolise the basic building blocks of social relationship and economic structures.
