For the past 10 years some of the most interesting directors of the younger generation, both Polish and foreign, have been developing and often also producing their films within Wajda School’s programs. More than 50 documentary and feature films, as well as 200 shorts have been produced so far. They have been selected and often won prizes at the most prestigious festivals, including Berlinale, San Sebastian, Karlovy Vary, Hot Docs, IDFA and DOK Leipzig. In 2011, continuing the mission of the School, Andrzej Wajda and Wojciech Marczewski established a film production studio - Wajda Studio www.wajdastudio.pl, which aims to support projects with strong artistic vision.
Special event at DAF will consists of 10 documentaries especially chosen for the 10th anniversary of Wajda School, among them European Film Award nominee Paparazzi by Piotr Bernaś which has its dutch premiere at IDFA, 2011 in Student Documentary Short competition. Wajda School starts to celebrate its first decade at IDFA, Amsterdam with Guests Meet Guests event on 19 November 2011.
