East Doc Platform for the fifth time

In March 2016, the fifth edition of the biggest documentary event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, East Doc Platform, organized by Institute of Documentary Film in association with One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, will take place in Prague. Apart from the traditional meetings of documentary professionals, workshops, lectures, pitchings, networking events and other activities, participating projects in development will have the chance to win 7500€.

EAST DOC PLATFORM 2016 will welcome more than 400 guests, including 70 key international, commissioning editors, buyers, distributors, sales agents, festival programmers, film fund and organization representatives who will be able to choose from some of the most promising films and projects in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as 120 East European filmmakers and producers who seek creative, financial and distribution support. This event will traditionally feature IDF's staple activities, including the 16th EAST EUROPEAN FORUM; the 3rd edition of DOC TANK and the 7th PROJECT MARKET.

EAST DOC PLATFORM AWARD
For the second year in a row IDF will present the East Doc Platform Award; financial support in the amount of 7 500 EUR for the best project in development. Out of all East and Central European documentary projects in development participating in East Doc Platform’s activities, one will be awarded with this prestigious award.

WHAT PROJECTS IS EAST DOC PLATFORM LOOKING FOR?
Particularly creative feature length (52' up) documentary projects from Central and Eastern Europe in development, production and post production stage for the East European Forum and Project Market and socially and politically engaged documentary projects with transmedia and campaign potential for Doc Tank. The selection is also open for productions from other parts of Europe with projects thematically related to our region.

EAST EUROPEAN FORUM
5-day workshop and 2-day public pitching, feedback round tables, and one-on-one meetings - the region's largest presentation of documentary projects to international commissioning editors, distributors, buyers and film fund representatives.
Open to: 8 - 10 Central and East European projects in development and production
Focus: networking, financing and promotion

PROJECT MARKET
2-day meeting point with prearranged one-on-one meetings with our accredited decision makers
Open to: up to 25 Central and East European projects in all stages of completion (except East European Forum participants who have their meetings scheduled individually), international commissioning editors, distributors, sales representatives, funders and festival programmers Focus: networking, financing

DOC TANK
Three days of deep consultations and brainstorming and one day of one-on-one meetings for socially and politically engaged documentary projects with transmedia and campaign potential. Project consultations, development and individual meetings with decision makers at the Project Market.
Open to: up to 7 Central and East European projects in all stages of development and production
Focus: transmedia design, new technologies, campaign, marketing, networking, financing, distributional strategies and promotion

Gulîstan, Land of Roses Wins Prestigious Doc Alliance Selection Award at Locarno IFF

On Sunday, August 7, young director Zaynê Akyol became the 9th winner of the unique Doc Alliance Selection Award that is awarded since 2008 by the international Doc Alliance platform. The Kurdish director based in Canada received the award during an award ceremony at Locarno IFF. Along with the award, the filmmaker also received financial support of 5.000 euro for her future film.
