This is an early work by the director, who had just returned from studying in Italy. As dawn gradually breaks, we see the neon lights of the city being swallowed by the morning light, and the lens opens up onto Taipei in the 1960s, traversing through parks, churches, markets, textile factories, and telecom offices, finally following the morning paper thrown by a paperboy on a bicycle into the breakfast hours of a small white collar family. The film survives only in a working copy lacking audio.
