The reconstruction of the events of July 22, when Anders Breivik first killed seven people with a bomb attack near the government buildings in Oslo and then shot dead 69 children at a camp on the island of Utøya. However, instead of Breivik we follow several fictional characters representing the people of Norway, who had to deal with the consequences of the disaster immediately. The attacks have already been depicted in Paul Greengrass’s film of the same name and the thriller Utøya. However, the Norwegian public television series, which won this year’s main national television award, focuses on what preceded and followed the attacks. “It’s not a story about one terrorist, but about us, the other Norwegians,” describes Ivar Køhn, head of NRK drama production. The series shows the work of the staff of a hospital in Oslo, which was heavily overloaded on July 22, in addition to the doctors, we also see the involved cleaners – migrants, initially terrified that the murderer was a Muslim. We also follow the journalists in exceptional dilemmas, the police officers searching the island after the tragedy or extreme right-wing bloggers belonging to the same online community as the mass murderer.
