The story takes place in 1982. Two brothers, miners, representing two attitudes towards communist oppression. Janek decided to actively participate in the activities of the democratic underground and Tadek is neutral. Their differing attitudes lead to a conflict in which a precise balance of moral arguments is not realistic.
