SHORT JOY // This black and white video essay creates a parallel between the sedimentation and transformation of inorganic substances and the migration of civilization throughout history. Using the example of social arrangements created by the interconnection of different peoples in the past, the filmmaker proposes an alternative reframing of the current discourse on migration. The essay, narrated by a male voice with a distinct Balkan accent, is complemented by visually captivating shots of the movement of grains of sand.

„Migrations are not a cause of wars, cultural collapse or misery, the cause is the idea of living from someone else’s work, retaining control over people and resources, and imposing that principle onto others.“
