Murderer by Vocation. The Suffering of Judge Vaš

  • Czech Republic

The film shows unique testimony of Judge Karel Vaš who has helped to execute dozens of people during Stalinism. He was born to a Hungarian Jewish family in Uzhhorod, Ukraine and joined the Red Army during the WWII. As a radical and fanatical communist until his death he believed that mass murders which he has tolerated as a vice-chief of military intelligence, have been necessary as well as political trials against the elite of Czechoslovak Army after the WWII. He was one of the leading judges in communist Czechoslovakia and died recently at the age of almost 97. Docudrama includes rare NKVD files and unique colour films from deliberation of Prague. The film is narrated by Czech artist David Cerny (London Olympic DoubleDecker, Entropa etc.).
