In 1928 during the state visit to Zdar nad Sazavou Tomas Garrigue Masarik takes a three-year-old Eva Neugebauerova into his arms. An iconic picture has arised from the encounter, connecting the symbolism of Masaryk statehood, the coming generation and the young Czechoslovakia. The photo is later, just before the protectorate, issued also in the stamp edition. But Eva, the celebrity of the democracy who barely managed to come out, escapes from the country at the beginning of the fifties. Across Sumava she gets as far as Chicago – where she is visited by her grandnephew with his team this year.
