In DOK Leipzig Talks, original filmmaking approaches are presented by four filmmakers: Daniela de Felice, Marina Razbezhkina and the directing tandem of Johanna Domke and Marouan Omara. Using her film CASA as an example, French filmmaker Daniela de Felice introduces the creative process of the unique genre of animated documentary film. Russian producer Marina Razbezhkina, cofounder of a theatre and documentary academy, looks behind the scenes of filmmaking in the East European region. Johanna Domke and Marouan Omara have attracted festival audiences with their untraditional rendering of the Lotus Revolution of 2011 in Egypt, depicted in their film CROP by means of journalistic images. Further filmmakers dealing with current social issues include Slovak director Robert Kirchoff, whose latest film NORMALIZATION revisits the story of a murder of 37 years ago, and Bregtje van der Haak, Dutch documentarist and journalist employing a transmedia approach in her works. In a separate contribution, famous Danish director, screenwriter and producer Jon Bang Carlsen, renowned for his original use of the method of film montage and the genre of feature documentary, gives an insight into the film industry.
