In the summer of 2006, Jakub Patočka was addressed by a one-time friend of his wife who asked him for help in her effort to adopt a little girl she and her sister took care of. Jakub decided to help them immediately; I wanted to make a film about it. However, it was put off for later so as not to disturb the whole process, until the film started making itself...In the spring of 2007, a case of a child abused by his mother emerged and grew into one of the most bizarre causes of today, filling the front pages of newspapers and the prime time of televisions; including several unexpected twists. One of them consisted in the fact that the girl who was almost at the end of the bureaucratic ordeal of achieving a new family never existed. Jakub Patočka was among the first ones to learn about it. As he was tricked and had motivated others to do so, he had to inform those around him and start reconciling with the fact that, facing the moral problems in its background, a number of negative phenomena revealed by the case will remain out of focus. The film, consisting predominantly of a single take, introduces the intensive tragicomic intermezzo of the whole case, transcending its theme by far, in the coulisse of Patočka´s night kitchen.
The semi-finished version of the film was screened at a festival workshop in Jihlava in the fall of 2007; the finished version was screened at the One World Festival and will be screened at the Czech documentary section of the Pilsen Final 2008.
