Petr Kazda (Czech Republic)

Petr Kazda (born April 14, 1978) studied at the Private Higher Vocational School of Film in Písek (SVOŠF) and then screenwriting and dramaturgy at FAMU from 2006 to 2009. He graduated with a screenplay for the feature film Invention of Destruction. He is involved in screenwriting, producing, and directing.

Together with his classmate Tomáš Weinreb, they debuted with the film I, Olga Hepnarová, which was the opening film in the Panorama section at the 2016 Berlinale. The film was screened at more than 100 festivals worldwide as part of the competition or official selection and showcase (Guadalajara, Hong Kong, Montreal, Melbourne, Haifa, Taipei, São Paulo, Karlovy Vary, Reykjavík, Seville, Ghent, Goa, Trieste, Gothenburg, Krakow, Warsaw, etc.)."

Petr Kazda is the author of the radio play Yesterday, on August 20. The dramatic story of August 21, 1968, in the Czechoslovak Radio and around the building on Vinohradská Street testifies not only to the important role that radio broadcasting played in society at the time. The play was broadcast by Czech Radio on almost all its stations for the 50th anniversary of the Soviet occupation.
