Joële Walinga (Canada)

Joële Walinga is an artist and filmmaker whose work explores memory and grief, trauma, subjective experience, and the aesthetics of empowerment. She works in painting, sculpture, installation, social practice, video art, performance, scent, and film. Her work has been shown at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography, the Khyber Centre for the Arts, Narwhal Contemporary, TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary, and the John & Maggie Mitchell Art Gallery, and has been featured in Canadian Art, CBC Arts, Art Matters, POV Magazine, and cléo Journal among others. Her first feature documentary God Straightens Legs premiered at DOXA Documentary Film Festival, Vertical Features and Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival.
