Documentary film director based in Almaty/Kazakhstan. Katerina was born in the 80's in the USSR and was raised in Kazakhstan/Almaty/ where she received her art education. She studied live action cinema at the High Courses of Script Writers and Directors in Moscow and at the Werner Herzog’s Rouge Film School in LA. Her numerous short documentaries were awarded with various international prizes and she wrote with Julian Assange’s a concept for film MEDIANSTAN which was the Best Documentary at the Gothenburg Independent Film Featival, 2014. SEA TOMORROW, her debut full-length documentary, was premiered 2016 in Locarno FF (Critic’s Week). It is a Kazakh-German Co-production with the support of the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Film participated in many of international festivals and was mentioned by jury at Jihlava Doc IFF and awarded by special prize by Kazakhstanian Film Press Guild. Currently she is working on a new documentary ABOUT LIFE OF PLANETS dedicated to the amateur astronomers saving the abandoned observatory in the mountains of Almaty.
