Australian documentary filmmaker Jennifer Peedom chases the extreme in an effort to capture authentic character. Peedom worked as a director and cinematographer in the heart of the Himalayas on and off for over a decade, and is fascinated by Mount Everest and the hold it has over human imagination. Her notable works Miracle on Everest (2008), Sherpa (2015), and most recently Mountain (Mountainfilm 2018), are an attempt to focus on the inherent conflict that breeds on this peak. Outside of Everest, she’s directed films like Solo (2008) — a narration of the first solo kayak crossing from Tasmania to New Zealand and Living the End (2011) — an intimate look at the lives of the terminally ill.
