Marek Beneš (1960) is a Czech screenwriter and director who graduated from the CTU in Prague. As a filmmaker he became known for educational programs. He later started working in animation for the series of short films Pat and Mat for Prague Short Film and subsequently for a private studio. For a while he worked for cable TV. Once his own Patmat studio was established, he returned to animation. There he worked on new episodes of Pat and Mat, which he recently introduced in the feature-length fi lm Pat and Mat in a Movie (2016).
