Asghar Farhadi is an Iranian film director and screenwriter. He started out shooting Super 8 and 16 mm movies. While studying film direction at Tehran University, he worked as a director for television and wrote radio plays until he graduated with a master’s in 1998.
Farhadi has received two Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film for his films A Separation (2012) and The Salesman (2016), making him one of the few directors worldwide who have won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film twice.
