Anca Damian (1962, Romania) studied at the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Bucharest, where she majored in Cinematography and obtained a Doctor's degree in Arts, Cinema and Media. In 1992, she started her film career as a cinematographer, after which Damian directed her first film Eminescu, truda întru cuvânt in 1996. Crulic – The Path to Beyond (2011) is her first animated feature film and the start of her trilogy on heroism. The second part, the mixed-media animation film The Magic Mountain (2015), won awards at several festivals, including the World Festival of Animated Film Zagreb, the Ottawa International Animation Festival and the Amiens International Film Festival.
