André Guiomar (1988) lives between Portugal and Mozambique. He holds a Master’s Degree in Cinema and Audiovisual, from Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He has worked in several film production companies such as Vende-se Filmes, Cimbalino Filmes, Promarte and is a founding member of Olhar de Ulisses. His first documentary feature Our Land, Our Altar (2020), received the Youth Jury Prize Award at the ZINEBI Festival, the Emerging Director Award at the Porto/Post/ Doc International Competition, and had its world premiere at the Sheffield Doc/Fest. André’s previous films include the documentary short Skin of Light (2018), winner of the Jury Prize at Doclisboa Film Festival (2018), Torres (2013), and Píton (2011), winner of several international awards. He was the cinematographer and editor of A Mãe e o Mar (2013) directed by Gonçalo Tocha, winner of the national competition at the Doclisboa Film Festival, and awarded for best editing at Cineport. Also as an editor, he received the Best Editing award at the Ouagadougou Panafrican Film and Television Festival for his work in the feature film Mabata Bata (2017), directed by Sol de Carvalho.
