Ivo Briedis is multi- media artist - professional dramaturge, script writer and director who in different capacities has participated in more than 30 films (documentaries, features and animations) and theatre plays. Ivo is also working as dramaturgy lecturer at the Latvian academy of Culture in Riga.
In 2010 the animation after his script ‘To swallow a toad’ was selected for short film competition at Cannes. His documentary ‘The National touch’ rises issue about integration of the Russians that has not happened since Latvia gained independence almost 30 years ago. In 2012 his feature ‘The Film’ was awarded the best non feature length feature film in Latvia. His latest work was the script for the historical series ‘The Red forest’ about the national resistance movement in Latvia against the Russian occupation in late 1940ies that become one of the most watched TV programmes in Latvia in 2019.
