Jasmila Žbanić is an Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated director.
In 1997, together with her friends, she founded the Artists’ Association “Deblokada,” through which she produced, wrote and directed her feature film Grbavica, awarded the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 2006 and Best Film at the American Film Institute (AFI).
Quo Vadis, Aida? premiered at the Venice Film Festival and, alongside numerous other awards, received the Independent Spirit Award for Best International Film and European Film Awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress. It was also nominated for an Academy Award (Oscar) in the category of Best International Feature Film and for two BAFTA Awards.
She directed an episode of the acclaimed HBO TV series The Last of Us. In 2023, the Venice Film Festival presented her TV series I Know Your Soul.
