Magda Gvelesiani, born and raised in Tbilisi, Georgia, completed her diploma in animation at the State Academy of Arts in Tbilisi in 2009. Since 2013, she has been living and working in Berlin, Germany. In 2023, Magda graduated from Bauhaus University Weimar with a degree in Visual Communication.
Exhibited and collaborated internationally, showcasing her works in various venues. Her first solo exhibition at @window_Project in Tbilisi, Georgia, and participation in a group exhibition at Essl Museum with Klassedahlem in Klostenburg, Vienna. She also contributed to a group exhibition at @Maudiatmaudi and DBL (Digital Bauhaus Lab), Weimar. In 2021, Magda's VR documentary project Femigrammetry earned a spot on the #longlist by KULTURGESTALTEN kupoge.de. Which have been supported by the Women's Fund at Bauhaus University Weimar, leading to a solo show at Funkhaus Weimar.
Magda expanded her artistic pursuits into documentary filmmaking, with her debut short documentary film No Body and the Blue Sky (2022) receiving funding from the Women's Fund and Creative Fund at Bauhaus University Weimar, as well as the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia. The film premiered at the Georgian National Museum and Filmmuseum in Potsdam. Film awarded the Best Documentary film on KISFF, selected on FilmFestival Cottbus and several other festivals in Europe.
