Sofía Velázquez is a Peruvian independent filmmaker, editor and writer. Her work has been screened at exhibitions and festivals such as Mar del Plata, Málaga orNeighboring Scenes and platforms such as Aashara - Contemporary Artistic Practices. Her latest feature film, About Everything there is to know (2021), won a Special Jury Mention at Mar del Plata, the main prize at the 7th Lima Film Week, Best International Film at DocBahía. It was also part of the list of the 20 best Latin American films for Cinema Tropical in 2022. She is a member of the Mercado Central Collective and has worked as a workshop leader in collective spaces such as From the inside: Audiovisual stories of female subjectivities in spaces of confinement or Hilando Miradas: first audiovisual residency for women in Puno. She is a fellow of the MacDowell Artist Residency, the Union Docs Summer Lab and the Yaddo Artist Residency. She is in the process of making her new film The Colloquium of the birds.
