Alireza Memariani is a visual artist and documentarian currently residing on Hormoz Island in the Persian Gulf. In 2009, he received his MA from the University of Art & Architecture, Tehran. His artistic approach is rooted in visual art and documentary practices, with a primary focus on digital photography and art installation. Memariani founded the Artist Residency Daheer on Hormoz Island, named after an ancient mythical fish native to the region. This project has become a prominent venue for artists and cultural exchange on the island, where Memariani collaborates with local artists, musicians, and community members. Memariani's documentary film Broken Bones was screened at the Cinema Verite Festival in Tehran in 2022, earning the Special Jury Prize.
