Sofía Hansen (Santiago de Chile, 1997) is a visual artist, writer and filmmaker. Graduated in cinematography with a specialization in non-fiction at the Escuela Superior de Cine y Audiovisual de Cataluña (Universitat de Barcelona) and technical training in audiovisual media. Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Visual Arts at the University of Chile.
Her work focuses on the artistic research through cinema and explores the notions of film essay, collage, the articulation between word and image, and the material possibilities in the moving image, using family archives, clippings, documents, ceramics and celluloid.
Her films have been screened at Valdivia International Film Festival (FICValdivia), S8: Mostra de Cinema Periférico, Spain, and collective exhibitions in Chile and the Dominican Republic. Has published essays, film reviews and photographs in magazines such as 'Outskirts Film Magazine' (presented at Locarno Film Festival), 'Simulacro Mag' (Dominican Republic).
