Markus Wulf was born in Oldenburg Germany. Over the past ten years, he's worked consistently as a writer and director in film, theatre, opera and puppetry.
His short films have won awards at national and international film festivals. In 2014, he was nominated for the German National Short Film Award with his piece A Fairytale with a Completely Imagined Ending. His work often questions ideologies and the representations of power with humor.
He studied directing for fiction and nonfiction film at the International Film School in Cologne. In 2020, he finished the MFA program at the School of the Arts at Columbia University in New York City, with scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
