Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Vahan Khachatryan studied at the Yerevan State University of Engineering (2008-2012). Afterwards he got a master degree in Yerevan State University of Theatre and Cinematography and attended Roman Balayan’s advanced Directing Course (both – 2012-2014). As a filmmaker, he has participated in local and international programs, such as the Film + H2O (2013), organized by the British Council in Armenia, Yerevan From Dawn till Dusk (2013), a student made anthology film workshop, conducted by professor of the Lodz Film School (Poland) and others. Since 2015, he is a coordinator at Apricot Tree IDFF. In 2016, he was one of the co-founders of the “Filmadaran” Film Culture Development Organization. In March 2019 he was the coordinator of the 1st Armenian Film Forum within the frames of the GAIFF Pro industrial platform. In 2024 finished his first short fiction film Kafka.
