After studying history and cinema at La Sorbonne, Leslie Lagier first worked as an assistant director then as an editor and a director. She makes both documentaries and fictional narratives. Her films focus particularly on places: on their intimate or collective histories, the ways they are inhabited and the relationships between people and their territory. Memory, disappearance, bereavement, trace and the link between these themes and the landscape are at the heart of her work. Her filmmaking approach is characterized by a plastic research and the use of different types of materials: photographs, archival footage, home movies…
Leslie also works for the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d'Arles (National School of Photography) and the Cinémathèque Française as a teacher and for the CNC (French National Film Center) as a script reader. She currently lives and works in Paris.
