Elena López Riera holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication. She is a filmmaker, programmer, and educator. Her works have been showcased at festivals such as Cannes, Toronto, Locarno, as well as in art institutions such as PS1 MoMA in New York. As a programmer, she has worked for the Visions du Réel. She has taught at the Universities of Geneva, Valencia, and Carlos III, and since 2019 she has been teaching at HEAD (Haute école d’art et design) in Geneva and at the Elías Querejeta Film School in San Sebastián. Her feature film El agua (2022) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was selected by numerous international festivals including Toronto, San Sebastián, and Melbourne. It was also nominated for Best New Director at the Goya Awards.
