Laurence Lévesque (Canada)

Laurence Lévesque is a Canadian filmmaker. In 2019, Laurence directed a short documentary, Homeport (Port d’attache). The film was selected at Visions du Réel, won the Best National Short or Medium-Length Film award at the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM), and was nominated for the Best Short Film award at the Gala Québec Cinéma. In 2022, Laurence completed a master's degree in which she reflected on documentary writing and the narrative modes that make up reality. She won the Prix Philippe-Ménard for best research-creation thesis. In 2023, she directed Perséides, a short documentary presented at RIDM and currently nominated for the Prix Iris for the Best Short Documentary. OKURIMONO is her debut feature.
