Rafiki Fariala was born in 1997 in Uvira, DRC, and grew up in the Central African Republic after his family fled the war. A self-taught musician, he first gained attention in 2013 with the song Why War? and became a promising voice on Bangui’s music scene. In 2017, he joined an Ateliers Varan documentary workshop, where he made his first film, Mbi na Mo, later selected by several international festivals.
