Leaving medical studies to pursue filmmaking in 2012, Ly Polen (b. 1989, Candal) is a Cambodian filmmaker whose work explores social and environmental themes. He was selected for the Asian Film Academy (Busan) in 2018, and his films have screened internationally, winning awards at Locarno and Palm Springs. His documentary Until the Orchid Blooms premiered at IDFA in 2024, and his fiction debut Becoming Human premiered in Venice in 2025.
