Zdeněk Holý was born in 1974. He worked as editor of the Cinepur film magazine on a long-term basis, in 2007-2010 he was the editor in chief. His influential texts include Mystic Puddle dealing with the state of film criticism (2004) and In the Ivory Tower evaluating the field of film studies (2009). In his text Emptied Narration (2005), he named the aesthetic values of the new wave of minimalist films. In the Slovak Kino-Ikon magazine, he published a translation of the article Neurocinematics: The Neuroscience of Film (2010) including an extensive introductory commentary dealing with the perspective of the research of film reception from the neuroscientific perspective. As part of his PhD studies at FAMU, he made the film The Battlefield Titan (2007). From 2008, he works as director of AMU Press.
