Eric Bergkraut was born in Paris on November 28, 1957. When he was four years old, his family moved to Aarau, Switzerland. From 1977 to 1980, he studied at the Acting Academy of Zurich; then he worked as an actor in theater, TV and film in Germany, Switzerland and France. He began writing reports on topics from all over the world in 1999. Since 1992, he has made numerous documentary films. His best-known film Coca – the Dove from Chechnya, portrays the Chechen human rights activist Zeynap Gashayeva. The documentary won several awards last year.
